“Each week I feel as though the tension builds in my body until I can finally get to Pilates. On days when I come into the session feeling low energy or sore, I always leave feeling better than when I arrived. Mary’s first question at the beginning of each session is “how are you feeling, and how can I help today?” Her mindset of trying to be as helpful as possible is easy to see in every interaction. Mary always guides me through new or challenging exercises slowly and deliberately so that I can get the most out of the exercise, and there is no risk of injury.

For example, Mary customized our routine based on my feedback that a specific exercise hurt my knees. We skipped that move until she provided additional padding to help protect my knees which made it possible for me to do that exercise again successfully. I am so appreciative for the help that Mary as given me to help keep me active, moving, and injury free over the past 6 years. I can’t say enough positive things.” Ross B.

“I am an active person in my late 70s, skiing, swimming, kayaking, hiking, but my core has not been very strong. Multiple attempts at strengthening it seemed to make things worse and I always noticed it in my lower back and left hip when I bent over, I started taking the group Pilates class at the Senior Center, hoping it could do the job of strengthening my core. Mary’s class has done just that and more. My arms are stronger. My feet are more flexible, and I don’t have any pain when I bend over. Not only that but we have a great group of people in our classes providing connection with friends.” Bernice W.

“Working with Mary has helped me become a healthier, stronger, and happier person. Her sessions helped me recover from postpartum in a steady and positive pace. I feel stronger now than even before my pregnancies! Although life is busy I make a point to do Pilates to relieve my body from the stress of the week and build my strength. Mary is also very patient and kind, adjusting and customizing our sessions based on what I need on any given day.” Katie B.

“I have been attending Mary’s Pilates classes at the Senior Centers for a year now. Mary is professional, kind, observant, and well skilled to teach us as a group. Her Pilates class has a friendly vibe and the participants really care about one another. She often suggests modifications according to each individual’s needs. I appreciate Mary’s attention to detail and form while performing the exercises. In addition to group work, I meet with Mary privately to learn Pilates Mat and Reformer exercises designed for my extended personal goals. Since working with Mary, I have improved posture, flexibility, strength and have avoided injury while performing my other physical hobbies. One of the best things about Pilates is that I can do it wherever I go - home or travel.” B. T.
